Sorry what?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I just heard the most bizarre radio commercial. The short version was "Have you seen all these ads for male enlargement pills, who believes these? There is no way a pill is going to make you bigger. So you should use Maximus topical cream, if used for the full 8-week course it'll make your member thicker and larger."

It was like some sort of bizarre meta spam.

Just to make it weirder the phrase "Use it or lose it" was repeated at least four times in the spot, but didn't seem to have any real connection to what was being said/sold.

Owl - Owl teaches us to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Owl uses the "disadvantage" of twilight to swoop down on unsuspecting prey. Twlight has been called owl-light. Quiet walks in the woods are an excellent way to develop your other sight and you may feel drawn to explore some sort of clairvoyancy.

as always thought provoking.

GIP + update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Power was on. The breakers were all switched off, which the very nice lady told me they'd called to tell me yesterday. See previous post for phone's not terribly useful location. But all is well- we have ceiling fans! and soon, an air conditioner. Also, our power is made by COWS. (Also wind, solar and hydro... but none of those are as amusing as COWS.) Basement is ubercreepy, with a dirt floor and motion detector lighting.

Also, we are resolved that the next time we move, it will not be until we can afford to pay strapping young men to do all of it for us. Because omg ow.

Three Things Meme

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Stolen from damn near everywhere:

Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done.

See if anybody else responds with "I've done that."

Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

1) Found over 700 geocaches.

2) Played a pick-up game of basketball on the parquet floor of the old Boston Garden.

3) Worked for a summer in a plywood manufacturing factory.

Butterfly (NA) Butterfly today is telling you there is transformation coming. Take a look at where you are in the cycle to determine where you need to go. As a creature of air Butterfly is here to help you by bringing mental clarity to your journey.
ask yourself -

Is this the egg stage? - a thought or idea?
Is it the larva stage? - Do I need to make a decision?
Is it the cocoon stage? - What are you doing to make your decision a reality?
Is it the birth stage? - Is it a compete idea?

When you know where you are you can decide where to go.

This coupled with last week's Hare makes me think I need to get off my ass about something. Now I just need to figure out what....so many choices.

NYC Trip Report

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
In the past two months, [info]pinksbrat and I have visited NYC twice. The first trip is well documented here in her journal. I was incredibly lazy (from a journaling perspective) and failed to make my own post. That will be rectified here.

In my typical style for a post about a trip, we'll do this bullet-style: Cut because I love... )

Confidential to [info]elfbride-

You have a little red wagon that goes and stops, and even talks to the computer. It took the resident paper wasps and your brother out for a drive around the block just now. Needs some assorted* parts, a radio, and a lit match some Srs Cleanings. We saved you the engine mount bolts to tighten down. :D

*Throttle body, a power steering pump within the next month, an oxygen sensor relay, and crankcase breather. Retail value, $1000, but this fabulous showcase can be yours for several months of combing swap meets.

Gradumated!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
We had a lovely ceremony: an air conditioned high school auditorium (what is this crap? in my day we had to sweat on the bleachers, by god) and no student speakers. ;) The boys approved of the ultimate hair choice- green tips on very light blonde- after conceding that perhaps a rose dress, pink shoes, and a faint sunburn topped off with pink hair might be a leeeeeetle much. I also found a green crocheted cardigan last minute, because why wear strapless if you're not going to turn around and cover your shoulders anyway, right?

I also won the department award, a Very Big Certificate and a set of nut drivers in useful sizes. I'm not sure if the prize was selected before or after they knew who won it, but I've borrowed them from every teacher we've had since the set we got in the student boxes is the 4 sizes nobody ever needs. I laughed when I opened it. Poor Electronics Dude, who confessed to a fear of public speaking first mod, drew the short straw and had to introduce the staff and award the prize, but he didn't pass out.

Did not get the Director's Award despite the boys all being convinced I had it in the bag. I'm not surprised by that, as I might get good grades and know how to hang onto a job, but I am not a model student by Baran standards. Might have something to do with the hour I spent trying to find the blue I was told I couldn't have in my hair way back in first mod. Maybe.

Now I just go back for 4 days and pick the brains of the HVAC guy that is our new new teacher. Other than the one test we have to take, it's more or less going to be a "show up and be the last one standing to leave" kind of week as far as school is concerned. Too bad the afternoons will be filled with moving.

Dumb Ideas, done dirt cheap

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Some of you may remember the Geohashing XKCD strip from last month. The whole point was randomly generating a set of latitude & longitude co-ordinates for any given day. The saturdcay locations are supposed to be the location of a meetup at 4pm.

Well I've decided to try tomorrow to hit four different sets of co-ordinates in one day, western CT, central CT, central MA and ending up at the Boston co-ordinates hopefully just in time for the 4pm meetup.

I'm going to have to start out pretty early, as I'll have about 7hours & 300miles of driving to accomplish it. But if nothing else it should be entertaining to try.

Best part? I don't even have a GPS, I'm finding these based on google maps alone.

Today Show

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So this morning on the Today show Kathy Lee made a major mistake. She managed to make a blanket statement of "Those nasty bad Pagans" when she was was doing a question show segment. Now, I'm not that offended really because she said it in a joking manner, but I do think that she should have more then just a slap on the wrist. If she had said "Those nasty bad Jews" or "Those nasty bad Muslims" she would be in a hell of a lot more trouble then she is in now I guarantee it. I certainly hope the producers of the Today show read every single email, listen to every single call, and take this matter seriously. The fact is that in this day in age a simple tongue-in-cheek comment like that just isn't appropriate.
